We are very pleased to announce our first givingadollar.org project! If you are able to help this brother in need, please go to the projects page and donate.
The Oregon Trail Baptist Church has started the “givingadollar” Fund to provide an avenue for Christians, to help other Christians. Many times you would want to help a brother or sister in need, but maybe you do not know of the need, or maybe you do not feel you could give enough to make a difference. Regardless of the reason, many in ministry just quietly carry a heavy burden of debt, and we know from personal experience, this can be a serious hindrance to one’s ministry; not to mention stress on the servant of Christ and his family.
Philippians 4:13-16 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction. Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. As a church we often receive requests for help and we’ll take up an offering which may not amount to much, or often we will pray for the need, not taking an offering, and soon forgetting about it. Givingadollar is an attempt to carry out our responsibility to help those in the ministry in a meaningful way.
James 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
The exciting thing about this ministry is the potential to do great good for qualifying individuals while requiring little sacrifice from giving members. Anyone can give a dollar and as the membership begins to grow great good could be done for may debt-strapped ministers of the Gospel:
2 Corinthians 8:13-14 For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened: But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:
