The Oregon Trail Baptist Church has started the Givingadollar Fund to provide an avenue for Christians, to help Christians. Many times we would want to help a brother or sister in need, but maybe we do not know of the need, or maybe we do not feel we could give enough to make a difference. Regardless of the reason, many in ministry just quietly carry a heavy burden of debt, and we know from personal experience, this can be a serious hindrance to ones ministry, not to mention stress on the servant of Christ and his family.
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction. Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.”
Philippians 4:13-16.
Often we receive these requests for help, and we’ll take up an offering which may not amount to much. Many times we let it go in one ear and out the other. We are attempting to do something about this. we feel this is our responsibility to help our brothers and sisters in ministry.
“But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?”
I John 3:17.
The wonderful thing about this ministry is the potential to do great good for qualifying individuals while requiring little sacrifice from individual members. Anyone can give and dollar and as the membership begins to grow, great good could be done for many debt strapped ministers of the gospel.
